The Department of Fundamentals of Nursing has a well-equipped lab consisting of various mannequins including CPR mannequins. At the lab, students are taught essentials of nursing and oriented on multiple biological and behavioral sciences. Correct procedures regarding patient care and appropriate methods to attend to patients with different ailments are demonstrated by skilled professionals.

Medical and Surgical Nursing

The Department of Medical and Surgical Nursing gives students specialised knowledge of various medical & surgical conditions, biological factors, diagnostic procedures and treatment models. In addition to classroom training, students are given insights into modern surgical procedures at the training hospital. They are also taught to handle sophisticated equipment such as ventilators, defibrillators, etc. used in clinical care.

Community Health Nursing

Community Health Nursing

The Department of Community Health Nursing orients students to the needs of the community at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. Experience gained in community health programmes helps students to contribute to the weaker sections of the society by employing community healthcare principles.

Child Health Nursing

At this department, students are trained in the delicate and adept handling of children and prepared to understand and develop the necessary skills required to provide care for children from birth to till their fourteenth year. Preventive, curative and rehabilitative care forms the core skills of this department. Students benefit immensely from the clinical exposure they receive at the Neonatal ICU, Paediatric ICU and General Paediatric wards of the Shri B. M. Patil Hospital.

Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing

Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing provides students with a holistic understanding of the birth process, pregnancy, labour and the postnatal phase and a thorough knowledge of the maternity cycle, anatomy and physiological changes during pregnancy. Training is also provided to identify high-risk cases and develop a unique care regimen for those groups. Nurses from Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate disciplines are also oriented to skills in obstetrics and gynaecological nursing.

Mental Health Nursing

The Department of Psychiatry and Mental Health Nursing deals with the diagnosis and management of patients suffering from mental illnesses and provides students with adequate theoretical and practical orientation on the subject. Students are also sent to mental health institutes in Karnataka and Maharashtra to get an overview of mental illnesses, their causes and method of treatment.
